About Magic Moments captured by gwkI’m an amateur who was at it before digital became cheap. I love photography for several reasons. I find it a creative outlet and consider it an art form (although I understand others do not but, thankfully, art is relative). I use it as a record of time. My first camera was a wedding gift. It was a very good Kodak point and shoot (back when Kodak still made cameras. My second camera was another Kodak. It was a 5meg point and shoot. It was great outside, in natural light, but couldn’t capture a dead man indoors under artificial light! I switched back to film with a Cannon EOS Rebel being my first, and last, SLR. I used it for a couple of years but didn’t get into lens with it. Then my wife gave me the Nikon D40 for Christmas a few years back. It really hooked me on photography in a big way but I quickly found, to my dismay, that a great shot I had taken wasn’t of a large enough size to be enlarged to a poster as I had wanted. I sold the D40 and purchased the D80. I LOVE MY D80! Someday, I’ll add another camera to my equipment but for now I am concentrating on getting better with the equipment that I have collected up to now. I try to take a picture a day but haven’t been very good at keeping up with that aim recently. As you will see, I shoot a wide variety of subjects - people, architecture, birds, dogs, nature, or whatever catches my fancy. I experiment with macro using what I have at in my bag at the moment but would like to add a serious macro lens to explore this facet of photography more. I also enjoy playing with Photoshop and draw a great deal of inspiration from photos online. I maintain a Flickr site but came to Animus3 for a photoblog where I might, hopefully, get more feedback on the shots I capture. I love feedback! Photography EquipmentNikon D80, Nikon 18 - 135 Kit lens, Nikon 70 -300 telephoto, Sigma 10 - 20 wide angle, SB 800 Speedlight, dreaming of many, and much more and acquiring them as circumstances allow. I play with Photoshop occasionally. I like what I can do with it but I am no expert with this tool. I would like to have more time or a course devoted to learning about it. |
